Any swimmer knows that a dive can make or break your entire race. Too deep, too shallow, late, or too early. All of these variables will significantly hurt your chance in taking home the gold medal.
Often times a faulted dive is instigated by your mind. Your excitement or anxiousness for a race can fog your brain and ultimately set you up for failure so it's crucial to be in the right mental state before stepping up on the block. Below are some tricks to keeping your head clear and stepping your right foot forward....or should we say "dive forward". :)
1. Listen to Music
2. Stretch Before Your Race
3. Keep Your Thoughts on the Pool (Don't let distractions bother you)
4. Picture Your Dive Over and Over Again
Every individual is different, so it's best to practice and test which method and system works for you! In the meantime, feel free to try out a couple of our tips above.
Good Luck!
